The Travel Bug

First of all, I need to say thank you all so much for the support after my last post. It was hands-down the hardest post I’ve ever written, but your comments, messages, texts, and e-mails further proved that I did the right thing by making this challenge public. So seriously, thank you, thank you, thank you! So far, week one has been going really well. I’ve been finding time to run and eating the right foods. I know it’s only the first week and that I have a long way to go, but I’m optimistic. 52 more weeks to go!

Today I took the day off from running, it’s all rainy and disgusting outside. It’s days like today that I wish it was summertime and that I was on a beach.

So of course, I started thinking about the beach. Which of course, led to me searching vacation spots in Bora Bora. Which of course, made me catch the travel bug again. Every once and awhile I get an uncontrollable desire to travel. The past few years, I’ve taken some pretty awesome vacations and visited some pretty iconic cities.

In 2009, my family set sail for my first Caribbean cruise. We visited Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Dominican Republic and Haiti (see above picture):

Later on that year, I went to on a European excursion to Dublin, Paris, and London. This was my first time ever in Europe and I am just dying to go back. Granted, the language barrier was a little bit tough sometimes, but that was half of the adventure!

I also took some more “local” trips in 2010 ala Seattle and NYC:

2011 held much of the same. My family set sail once again. This time we made stops in Haiti (again), Jamaica, and Cozumel.

After that, I took a fantastic trip to Hawaii which I’ve already blogged about, but here’s some extra pictures anyway because it’s beautiful. 🙂

All of that travel reminiscing really got me thinking. I’ve taken some really stellar vacations for the past couple of years and I’m hankering to go somewhere new in 2012.

Now, where to go?! Greece? Turkey? Spain? Bora Bora? Suggestions?
